I love rainy days, and thunderstorms totally rock my world! If I had a list of top ten favorite things to do . . . laying in bed and listening to the thunder and rain would be one of them. However, when I have a wedding to shoot on a Saturday afternoon, those clouds rolling over head start to really freak me out! My mind races through different scenarios of how the day could turn out. Then I start turning over all the possible locations I could take a full wedding party inside and still get AMAZING images.
So the morning of Nikki and Brett’s wedding was overcast. Although the weatherman had predicted storming at about 4:00 that morning it never came, and my hopes of a smooth and dry day seemed to be coming true. Then 10:00 hit and WHAM, RAIN!!!! Lots of rain! I quickly switched to the backup plan side of my brain. All the locations I had planned for pictures that day quickly slipped away and I was rewiring my brain for the gloomy conditions.
I stepped back inside my house and headed off to start getting ready. 1:00 rolls around . . . it’s time to head to the girls meeting spot . . . I step outside . . . SUNSHINE!!!! I thought to myself, “you are kidding me!” However, even though the clouds had dispersed I was so positive it would begin raining again later that day. I mean there was a 60% chance starting at 3:00 after all!
Well wrong AGAIN!!!! Apparently the weather and the weather man had just teamed up to mess with me because it didn’t rain again, not a single drop! My decided backup plan got put back on the shelf, while Brett & Nikki were left with an absolutely gorgeous wedding day!
Nikki and Brett got ready in separate locations and then met up at Lion’s Park for their first glance! While they were seeing each other for the first time that day, the limo went off to pick up the rest of the bridal party. They got some real quality time just to themselves, and we had time for some bride and groom shots!
Brett and Nikki’s mom and dad were hanging around so we snapped a couple of the new family!
Wedding Party Arrived . . .
. . . and a nice change in location found us downtown
Soon enough, it was 5:00 and time for Nikki to head down the aisle!
With the ceremony over, the wedding party got to ride around in this snazzy transport, while we shot some more pictures of the new HUSBAND & WIFE!!!!
