It was on my way to Dingle that an older Irish gentleman took the bus seat next to mine. For the next hour I listened to what I can only assume was a mixture of folk tales, life lessons, and a little bit of politics. I say “assumed” because my ear for accents is poor and I only got bits and pieces of the entire 1 hour (one-sided) conversation. It was entertaining nonetheless and the toothless grin of this dear old man is forever etched into my memory.
Dingle was one of my favorite stops along my route. The town is full of cute little shops and the views along Slea Head Drive are phenomenal.

Below are the Blasket Islands. They were inhabited until an evacuation in 1953.
Apparently there is a scene from the movie, Ryan’s Daughter, filmed on the beach below.
Below the Gallarus Oratory (church) is believed to date back to the 11th or 12th century.
