Waterford is Ireland’s oldest city and was founded by the Vikings in the 9th century. It’s also home to some of the best fish n’ chips I had in Ireland. Trust me, I became a fish n’ chips expert! 🙂
The chandeliers in the picture below are waterford crystal chandeliers.
When talking to the waitress at the restaurant where I ate lunch (the previously mentioned fish n’ chips) I asked where I should go in Waterford. After a fairly long chat we decided the little fishing village of Dunmore East (outside of Waterford) would probably be right up my alley. When I went to check out the bus times I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to make it there and back before the buses stopped. Saddened I decided to just wander around the city. About a mile away from the downtown area I just started walking. Then I kept walking. About 4 miles into the walk to Dunmore East I decided I should probably just go ahead and walk all the way there. I’m so glad I did. I had to pay for a taxi back to town but I got to enjoy a beautiful sunset and wander around the most adorable little fishing village.
Met this guy on my 11 mile walk to Dunmore East. We became friends. 🙂
Welcome to Dunmore East . . .
After leaving Waterford and Dunmore East I headed to the Cork area. Instead of staying in another big city I decided to head to the smaller town of Kinsale. Sadly the weather was not in my favor. Regardless I enjoyed a walk to James Fort, some of the best food, and my first rugby game in a popular pub called the Spaniard.
The day I left the sun was shinning and the bay was absolutely breathtaking.
