Misty & Jeremy: Rocheport, MO Engagement Photography

I would love to tell you how Misty & Jeremy meet, but why do that when Misty can do it herself? She told me the story in person when we meet for a consultation way back when, and it’s also on their wedding website. So here’s their “meet cute” (those who have seen the Holiday will appreciate that phrase) in her very own words!

“Interestingly enough, I was unknowingly less than 24 hours from a messy and very unexpected breakup when I met Jeremy (7/11/09). After going to a Saturday morning yoga session in Columbia, I slipped a skirt on over my leggings and went to Lowe’s to do some home improvement shopping. Checking several things off of my list and I headed towards the electrical department to get some replacement outlets. Thad began helping me until he got distracted by other customers. I was still deciding what to buy when Jeremy asked me if I needed any help. I explained what I was looking for as I stared at a wall of choices. He quickly showed me what I needed. His work phone rang and he excused himself to answer it. As I lingered in the aisle and counted the number of outlets I needed to buy, he finished his phone call and “smoothly” walked back over, pointing to a cheaper yet equivalent version of the outlet I had in my hand. He then explained that he had just moved to town, didn’t know many people yet, and normally didn’t ask girls out like this, but was wondering what I was doing that evening. There was a UFC fight on that night. Flattered and probably blushing I explained that it sounded like fun and I likely would’ve taken him up on the offer if I didn’t have a boyfriend. I called my sister while walking to my car and giggled as I told her the story.

However he broke up with me the next morning. My sister came over immediately and sat on the couch, flipping through a magazine while I belly-ached about what just happened. She was sympathetic, sure, but she had a plan. She held up a magazine page and said, “we’re going to cut 11 inches of your hair off and we’re going to Lowe’s!” The day after that I did in fact cut my hair, but I didn’t return to Lowe’s for several weeks. My sister, however, started to stalk the poor boy using the little bits of information that I had told her. His coworkers looked out for him and dodged her questions, thinking that she was some crazy ex-girlfriend. Ultimately, I got up the guts to go back in to Lowe’s and finally ran awkwardly in to him at the beginning of August. I asked him if anymore UFC fights were coming up and that I was available if he wanted company. Of course there weren’t, but there’s always ice cream and a porch swing.”
